Born in Shikoku, Japan, in a town known for its papermaking traditions, Kaho Moriki grew up in Kyoto.

Surrounded by paper, printing, and computers from an early age, she developed an interest in photography, design, and various forms of visual expression.

Over the years, she moved from place to place, experiencing life in many different surroundings.

At nineteen, she took a break from university and traveled overland across Eurasia, including a journey on the Trans-Siberian Railway.

Encountering unfamiliar landscapes, cultures, and people, she discovered that what seemed perfectly normal in one place could be considered unusual in another, and vice versa.

What felt extraordinary to her was simply everyday life for someone else.

Through these experiences, her curiosity about distant places gradually shifted toward the people who put down roots in a place and the lives they build there.

Now based in Azumino, Nagano, she explores the relationship between people and place, and the passage of time in everyday life, through photography and writing.

She is also the founder of House Studio 8dori.
